Oyster Quartz 36
Rolex’s Oyster collection was created using only the finest raw materials, resulting in classic timepieces enjoyed the world over. The brand was initially hesitant to create quartz watches, however when the Rolex Quartz Date (Ref. 5100) launched in 1970, it was a huge success. The angular-shaped case and sapphire crystal helped the watch’s popularity, though it was discontinued in 1972. In 1977 Rolex introduced new versions of the quartz watch, the Oysterquartz Datejust (Ref. 17000) and Rolex Day-Date (Ref. 19018). Rolex watches stopped producing quartz watches in 2001, making the models highly coveted by collectors and enthusiasts.
